1. Our Annual Conference is a unique opportunity for Fulbright scholars to meet, share their specialized knowledge and learn from others.
The Fifth Annual Conference will be in San Francisco, California on March 11-14, 2010. Our multi-disciplinary conferences are also multi-national (20+ countries) and multi-generational (from undergraduate students to retired executives and professionals). Previous FAST Conferences were held in Berlin (2006) Panama City (2007), Boston (2008), and Macedonia (2009). Click here for details about the next conference .
2. Fulbright forums and dialogues build one-on-one relationships among sub-groups of members - individual members and institutional members
Multi-day forums/workshops focus on one discipline, with an international set of Fulbright alumni and other expert participants. For instance: a forum/workshop on Digital Libraries for North Africa, funded by the US National Science Foundation UNESCO and the Government of Morocco, a forum/workshop on Nursing Education in the Middle East, funded by the Qatar Foundation and a forum/conference on the Future of Cities in partnership with Singapore's Agency for Science Technology and Research. Single-day forums attract alumni from a particular geographic area. An undergraduate research symposium and reception in Quito in partnership with the Catholic University of Ecuador and the Ecuador-US Fulbright Commission. A museum tour and luncheon sponsored by the University of Illinois at Chicago. An ongoing series of events for Women in Science in Boston.
3. Study committees allow FAST to serve as a research institute / think-tank / knowledge broker.
We host and conduct research projects that allow Fulbright grantees, alumni and other experts to collaborate on research, policy development, and public education. This work is typically funded by government agencies, foundations, and/or corporations.
4. Our bulletin and newsletter tells others about our work and also highlights the innovative work of individual Fulbrighters.
We promote the work of talented individuals and institutions, and we discuss the advancement opportunities that are available through the Fulbright program.
Our programs also help young leaders with their professional development and promote science & technology as a career, and we also are active in helping younger alumni through the transition when they return home.
For our institutional members, we build ties among universities, colleges and other organizations, especially those involved in managing the Fulbright exchange program and those seeking assistance on science & technology issues.
